BILL · 1997–98 SESSION · LATEST VERSION ESHB 2551

HB 2551: Utility payment deposits

Allowing utilities to take actions, such as requiring deposits, to ensure payment.

Summary

  • A municipal utility, water-sewer district, or irrigation district may require deposits from customers to guarantee payment for services, but failure to do so will not affect the validity of a utility lien. Also, the utility or district may determine how to allocate partial payments on past due accounts.
