Money trails
Who funds Washington's elected officials, how much they gave, where it came from, and where the money went next. State figures come from reports filed with the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC), and figures for members of Congress from the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The two are labeled, and nearly every record links to the report it came from.

"Raised" adds up every campaign on record. State figures (PDC) begin with the 2009–10 cycle and cover any Washington office the person ran for. Federal figures (FEC) cover each two-year cycle back to 1992. They're never added together. Money a candidate moves from one campaign to the next is reported again by the new campaign, so it can count more than once. "From Washington" is the share of itemized gifts with a stated location that came from Washington. For state figures that means every itemized gift, including those from organizations. For members of Congress it means individual gifts only, as marked, so committee gifts are left out. Small gifts usually have no location, so they aren't counted.
A contribution is not an accusation. These are campaign finance reports as filed with the Washington Public Disclosure Commission. They show who gave and how much. They don't show that anyone received anything in return.
