BILL · 2001–02 SESSION
SB 6010: New auto ferries
Procuring new auto ferries.
Summary
- Finds that a 2001 audit recommended that auto ferries, including vessels, be procured through use of a modified request for proposals process whereby the prevailing shipbuilder and Washington state ferries engage in a design and build partnership. Declares this process promotes ownership of the design by the shipbuilder while utilizing the department of transportation's expertise in ferry design and operations.
