HB 1589: Health carriers & providers

Concerning the relationships between health carriers and contracting providers.

Summary

  • Requires health carriers to provide a health care provider, prior to entering into or renewing a contract, with certain information including a copy of the new contract with all changes clearly indicated and a clean copy of the revised contract.
  • Requires health carriers to provide contract and payment policy updates in a manner that does not require access to a secure website or other portal for new contracts.
  • Requires health carriers and health plans offered to public and school employees to provide notice of significant payer contract modifications to the relevant health care provider or facility contract representative 90 days before the modification's effective date.
  • Defines "significant payer contract modification."
