HB 2192: Roadway fatalities

Updating the role of the Washington traffic safety commission in identifying the risk factors that lead to roadway fatalities.

Summary

  • Designates the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (Commission) as a public health authority and authorizes it to collect health care information for use in conducting traffic fatality and serious injury reviews.
  • Authorizes the Commission to convene a fatality review committee to review crash information where a traffic fatality or serious injury has occurred, and to publish reports summarizing trends, contributing factors, and policy and program recommendations.
  • Exempts driver licensing records, health care information, and other confidential information obtained by the Commission for these purposes from public inspection and copying.
