Expanding the state battery stewardship program to include electric vehicle batteries.
Summary
- Includes electric vehicle (EV) batteries in the existing state battery stewardship program beginning January 1, 2029.
- Exempts EV batteries from certain solid waste management laws relating to lead acid batteries used in vehicles.
- Retains the Department of Ecology's existing authority under the Hazardous Waste Management Act.
