BILL · 2025–26 SESSION
SB 6139: Rental payments
Concerning partial rental payments and rental payment methods of an unlawful detainer action or issuance of a writ of restitution.
Summary
- Requires landlords, in the event of a late rental payment, to make available any means of payments agreed to in the rental agreement and any means previously accepted during the tenancy.
- Specifies that a partial payment of past-due rent does not constitute a reinstatement of the lease, and is not grounds for dismissal or alter the five-court-day deadline of a pending unlawful detainer proceeding.
