SB 6016: Aquifer recharge areas

Considering critical aquifer recharge areas when revising an urban growth area.

Summary

  • Modifies the conditions under which a county may revise its urban growth area (UGA) due to changes in patterns of development to include if less than 15 percent of the areas added to the UGA are critical areas other than critical aquifer recharge areas.
  • Requires that the critical aquifer recharge areas must have been previously designated by the county and be maintained per county development regulations within the expanded UGA and the revised UGA must not result in a net increase in critical aquifer recharge areas within the UGA.
